Provide Board-level review of foreseeable enterprise risks, appropriate insurance arrangements and resilience as BTG develops and tests increasingly consequential technologies.
APPOINTED ROLE HOLDERKrista Boutilier
Risk and business resilience
This seat links technical and commercial risk to practical controls, responsibility and financial protection. It should ensure a promising prototype is not treated as a production-ready service without evaluation of its failure and liability exposure.

- Review appropriate insurance questions for hardware research, FarmNodes, software delivery, field demonstrations and community technology education.
- Examine incidents and near misses, including loss of data, system downtime, unauthorized access, defective results and unsafe equipment operation.
- Coordinate risks and mitigation plans with executive management, financial leadership, legal/privacy review and relevant research directors.
- Assess business continuity needs, backup and recovery arrangements, outsourced providers and the effect of distributed infrastructure failure.
- Review how proposed Exchange and Bridge activities could change professional, cyber, contractual, consumer or regulated-service exposure.
Areas of oversight
- Enterprise risk register and material exposure trends.
- Insurance suitability, coverage gaps and claims preparedness.
- Operational continuity and tested recovery plans.
- Safeguarding of participants and volunteers in Boundary Tech Generation programmes.
Reports and practical outcomes
- An understandable corporate risk register with owners and mitigation plans.
- Coverage and contract-risk review recommendations.
- Continuity and incident-response priorities for executive action.
- Board recommendations where risks exceed acceptable limits.
Works with

- Legal, Privacy & Data Sovereignty for contracts and cyber liability
- Civil Infrastructure & Public Safety for field risks
- CEO & Chair for prioritization and escalation
Questions this role brings to the Board
- What harm could follow from a failure and who might be affected?
- Which controls have actually been tested, not just specified?
- What exposure remains after controls, contracts and insurance are considered?
