KNOWLEDGE CAPITAL ECONOMY / WHITEPAPER CHAPTER 57

Must everyone release their raw data or source code?

Explore this subject in the October 2026 Knowledge Capital Economy whitepaper, with a direct reference to the original chapter.

Must everyone release their raw data or source code?

No. Asset metadata and evidence can be discoverable while the underlying source remains private. A customer can sometimes buy a permitted calculation or execution service without receiving confidential training data or source code. Rights, privacy and data governance determine which arrangements are allowed.

PRACTICAL EXPLANATION • BASED ON THE WHITEPAPER

Discovery does not mean unrestricted disclosure.

A public asset listing can describe a permitted algorithm, supported use cases, tests, limitations and rights conditions while the original source code, personal data, confidential training records or sensitive locations remain protected. In some arrangements the calculation runs at the source under scoped authorization and returns only an approved result. Licences can limit purpose, duration, geography, sublicensing, modification and retention, and a connection can be paused or revoked for future use.

Sometimes the correct answer is no.

Children's information, patient records, confidential research, public-sector data and Indigenous knowledge can be restricted by multiple authorities. A technical ability to transmit information does not create consent or legal permission to monetize it. BTG Bridge should therefore make source control and approval explicit before any controlled handoff, and refuse activity lacking legitimate authority.

The answer above preserves the original whitepaper text; this additional explanation is interpretive guidance, not a new claim of certification, legal authority or commercial launch.
